Having worked with hundreds of successful businesses over many years, at Wow we’ve got our own take on what it takes to make it as an entrepreneur. In fact, we could go on all day about it! For now, let’s just look at our top 3 tips:

1. Be bold.

The famous quote from Goethe is “be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid”. Anyone who ever achieved anything had a big dream. Many of those dreams were laughed off at the outset. But if you don’t think big, if your dream and vision isn’t backed up with Big Hairy Audacious Goals, you have no chance.

2. Connect.

In an age of automation and faceless technology, now more than ever it is important to be something real people can connect with. If you look at some of the fastest growing tech businesses – Google, Apple, Spotify – you can see that their success has been built on human connection. ‘Mass customisation’ is now a common concept – where scale is achieved through the principles of mass production, but each customer or user’s experience is unique to them. We see businesses of all shapes and sizes achieve real connection most successfully, by being clear on what they stand for – effectively being a ‘values’ driven business. (What are the values of your business?) As marketing guru Seth Godin says, “First, Connect“.

3. Focus.

The single most common trait of successful entrepreneurs is their ability to focus on what they are doing and where they are going to the exclusion of all else. Whether its Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs, or even Andrew Carnegie – the key ingredient to their success is always focus. We frequently see increased business performance coming as a direct result of increased intensity of focus.
